Great time in Sunriver

Thank you to everyone who came to Sunriver! It was a great family reunion with 42+ people and 1 dog, 6 houses rented, lots of food and great cooking, and many adventures (with 0 bodily harm). There were trips to Newberry Crater, The Giant Obsidian Flow, Paulina Peak, High Desert Museum, Lava Cast Forest, McKenzie River Trail, Benham Falls, East Lake, Downtown Bend, Deshutes Brewery, Outlet Stores, Kayaking on the river, cycling on the bike paths, and other activities too numerous to mention.
Special thanks to everyone who flew, drove, or took the train long distances to be there.
There are already plans afoot for an encore next year.

McKenzie River Mtn Bike Ride

I'm looking for victims to ride the McKenzie River mountain bike trail on Monday 8/25. This is a gorgeous trail about 30 miles long that goes through some of the most breathtaking scenery Oregon has to offer. It will take about 5 hours and is not for the faint of heart as there is some exposure and challenging technical sections. It passes through lava fields, crosses streams, and does a fair amount of climbing.

Here is a great photo of Grandpa(Bob Elkins) taken when Tom and Bob Hoggard were deer hunting at Panther Rock with him in October 1980. He was taking some Vine Maple leaves back home to Wilma. Thanks for the picture, Bob!

Alaskan Elkins

Hi Folks,
I'm sorry to say that the Elikins family from Alaska will not be able to make it to this years reunion, but have us all in their hearts. Craig Elkins is Joe Elkins son and Bob Elkins cousin, I could go on (thanks Macy) but I had to get home. I agreed to add them to the blog because there is another Hockey player in the family and as you know, they always have a softspot in my heart. OK, enough of this banter, see you in next week.

Expedition to Crater Lake

Anyone interested in an expedition down to Crater Lake on Monday the 25th?  It would most likely be an all day event with lunch at the Lodge.  Don't have to decide now, but a few of us are signed on already.

Free is a very good price!

Buying Drinks

I heard a rumor that Bob and Chris were buying drinks all around. Is that true?

Bar-B-Q at 3 Killdeer Lane

Greg Morse has invited everyone to come to his place at 3 Killdeer Lane in Sunriver for a Pot-Luck cook-out. It will take place on Saturday, August 23rd from 1:00-whenever. From there, we should be able to insinuate ourselves into Tom and Mary's fairly easily. Greg also said there is only a $65.00 deposit on his house, so feel free to tear the place up!
Loren and Dina will Supply burgers and buns.
Anyone else want to volunteer a dish?

Filbert Lane is ready on the 19th and Yellow Pine on the 20th.

Bill & Fam, Matt & boys & Mike & Joanie will be staying at 5 White Alder in the "better" section of the resort. We will arrive on the 20th and be there for 7 nights. Our group will be hosting an exclusive party (invitation only, of course) during the week. Invitations were sent out several weeks ago so if you have not received yours at this time, well, there's always Pizza Hut in town for that night.
